EXP rates, party EXP and the Death Penalty

The server's EXP rates, how party EXP is shared, and what dying costs you.

The rates

Monster EXP1.5×

Kerning Party Quest EXP2.2×
Ludibrium Party Quest EXP4×

The monster and quest rates date from Ver. 0.58a; the party quest rates were raised in Ver. 1.0. EXP shown for monsters and quests in the Library already includes these rates.

Party EXP

EXP from a monster is shared between the parties that fought it, by the total damage each party dealt. Soloing counts as a party of one.

Inside a party, 85% of that EXP is split by the damage each member dealt, and 15% is split evenly. Bonuses such as the party bonus or Holy Symbol are then applied on top.

  • Party bonus: +10% per party member, so a full party of 6 gets +60% in total.
  • Who shares in it: a member must have dealt at least 1 damage to the monster, or be no more than 5 levels below the monster (any level above is fine), or no more than 5 levels below a party member who is attacking it.

Staying in combat

Party members have to damage monsters to count as "in combat". A member who is not in combat has their EXP rate reduced by 25% every 5 minutes. After 20 minutes they are out of combat: they receive no EXP from the party, and they no longer count towards the party bonus.

The Death Penalty

Dying applies the Death Penalty debuff and removes all your buffs.

  • It reduces the EXP you gain by 80%.
  • It lasts longer the higher your level, and only counts down while you are online.
  • A Safety Charm removes it. Gold Richie in the Free Market sells them, up to 7 per week per character. Safety Charms cannot be dropped, traded or sold.

Deaths in the Mu Lung Dojo do not apply the Death Penalty, and entering the Dojo does not clear one you already have.

Omnia's Blessing

Omnia's Blessing is a passive skill shared by every character on your account. Its level is your account's highest character level divided by 10, up to level 20, and a character must be Lv. 10 to receive it. It cannot be given SP.

Each level of the Blessing grants:

  • +1 STR, DEX, INT and LUK
  • +1 Weapon Attack and Magic Attack
  • +50 HP and MP

So each time your highest character reaches a new multiple of 10 levels, every character on the account gets a little stronger.
